Beginning Fall Semester 2020, you may request books and other materials from the Michael Schwartz Library through our contactless pick-up service.  Here's how it works:

  • Locate the item in the Scholar online catalog or in OhioLINK and use the “Request” or "Hold" button to ask us to retrieve it or order it for you.

  • If you wish to pick up your materials in person as usual, select "Michael Schwartz Library" as your pickup location.

  • If you prefer contactless pickup, select "Michael Schwartz Library Contactless" as your pickup location.

  • When your materials are ready to be picked up you will receive an email from the Library.  This message, sent to your CSU email account, will include detailed instructions for a safe, no-contact transaction if you have requested it. If you prefer, you may visit the Library and pick up your books at the User Services Center. We’ll be open this semester 8am - 5pm. Please do not come to pick up your request until you have received the confirmation email.

  • Whichever method of pickup you choose, for your safety, materials will be quarantined for 3 days before they are processed and ready for pick-up. Textbook availability and the usual OhioLINK 3-5 day turnaround time for expected delivery will be delayed to accommodate this extra time.

Who can use the pickup service?

Anyone with a VIKINGCard may use the pickup service. You will need to bring your VikingCARD with you when you pick up your items inside the Library.

What items are available for pickup?

Most circulating books from OhioLINK and from the Michael Schwartz Library can be picked up through this service. Please note that some library items do not circulate, and some items may not be available. We will notify you if your request cannot be filled.

How many items can I request at a time?

Please limit your request to 10 items per day.

Where and when can I pick up my books?

Contactless pick-up is available whenever the Rhodes Tower lobby is open.

What safety precautions are in place?

  • For your safety, all incoming materials will be quarantined per recommendations of Reopening Archives, Libraries, and Museums (REALM)  before they are processed and ready for pick-up. The previous OhioLINK 3-5 day turnaround time for expected delivery will be delayed to accommodate this time.  To learn more about REALM’s recommendations, visit their website.

  • Library staff handling your books will be wearing masks and gloves. We will place all items in a plastic bag.

Can I return books at the same time I am picking up items?

The contactless pickup location is a few steps away from our outdoor book drop for your convenience. We have extended due dates for CSU-owned materials through the end of Fall Semester, but be sure to check your account (or give us a call) to check on due dates for OhioLINK materials.
